I made the low setting max of 1680 x 1050 and voila, it worked! I happened to find on this subreddit this post: and the key is to open C:/Program files (x86 if 64 bit) Origin games>Sims 2> Fun with pets> SP9.
Since Apartment life was the last EP, I thought it was that. With all the stuff packs and dlc, you have to make sure you edit the right file. After quick googling, it told be to edit a cfg file, but it would never work. I loaded it up, and then, there was only a single option: 800圆00 res! With my 1680x1050 monitor this was unacceptable. So, after EA giving TS2 Ultimate away, I quickly downloaded.
